Delta Media Selected PR Agency for Promoting

Healthy and Equal Relationships Project

White Ribbon Campaign and Le Centre ontarien de prévention des agressions partner to teach men the necessary skills to promote and experience healthy, equal relationships

October 20, 2008 (OTTAWA, ON) - Ottawa-based PR agency, Delta Media, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the White Ribbon Campaign and Le Centre ontarien de prévention des agressions (COPA) to plan and implement the “Promoting Healthy and Equal Relationships Project”, a social media-based awareness campaign that will help men coach boys (age 8 to 14) into manhood by encouraging them to value women as equals, and teaching them the skills and benefits of healthy, equal relationships.

“This campaign represents an opportunity for the White Ribbon Campaign to connect with our target audiences through the use of emerging social media tools,” explains Todd Minerson, Executive Director of the White Ribbon Campaign. “It is with great enthusiasm that we partner with COPA and Delta Media to achieve our campaign goals and capitalize on this opportunity to reach out to men, and provide them with the necessary tools to prevent violence against women.”

With a projected launch-date scheduled for Spring 2009, the Delta Media team, led by President Sheena Pennie and Managing Partner, Bernard Gauthier, has already begun work on a strategy outlining campaign goals and objectives. Working closely with representatives from the White Ribbon Campaign and COPA, the Delta Media team is committed to developing an effective strategy to provide men with the tools needed to work towards ending men’s violence against women.

“As Ontario’s provincial Francophone assault prevention centre specializing in child and youth issues, it was imperative that we choose an agency with sensitivity to Franco-Ontarian concerns around the issue of violence prevention and with expertise in the area of social marketing,” states Éric Stephenson, Project Coordinator with COPA.

The White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women (VAW). In over fifty-five countries, campaigns are led by both men and women, even though the focus is on educating men and boys.

Le Centre ontarien de prévention des agressions (COPA) is a Francophone provincial training body whose goals are to develop, consolidate and disseminate child/youth assault prevention resources that focus on child and youth advocacy. It also helps consolidate and support a Franco-Ontarian resource network in the field of child and youth violence prevention.

The Promoting Healthy and Equal Relationships Project has been made possible through the Ontario Women’s Directorate of the Ontario Government.
