Delta Media wins 2010 IABC Excel Award

Delta Media Inc. was honoured as one of Ottawa’s top communications firms, receiving an Excel Award from the International Association of Business Communicators - Ottawa Chapter, for
It starts with you. It stays with him. – an Internet-based campaign aimed at promoting healthy and equal relationships between men and women.

The award-winning venture between the White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) and Le Centre ontarien de prévention des aggressions (COPA) took top honours in the category of Community Relations in the Communication Management division at the prestigious awards ceremony, held in Ottawa on June 1.

The project applied Delta Media’s range of planning and management skills, and featured extensive audience research, a social media component, media relations support and the launch of a brand new website, www.itstartswithyou.ca.

The campaign website was designed to be the anchor of the campaign – a place where men could go to learn, find useful tools they can use and share their experiences with others. An
on-line survey drafted to measure the impact of the website on visitors, discovered that more than 80% of respondents indicated that, as a result of their visit, they have a better understanding of how to positively influence boys in their lives about healthy relationships and gender equality.

Building on the success of the development and launch of the campaign, the two partner organizations – COPA and WRC – have secured additional funding to support the website with additional promotional efforts and the development of new content. Over time, the site and the campaign will be expanded to engage more men and to provide them with a growing collection of resources and tools they can use.
